Are Liquid Diets Good For Weight Loss? Read More To Know!

Liquid diets contain less amount of calories than compared to solid food. Such diet plans are highly beneficial for people struggling with obesity or someone who just wants to get into the perfect size! These kind of diets are also prescribed by doctors to patients before or after surgical procedures or for any other health issues.

There are several types of liquid diets. Some of them are listed below:

  • Replacements of meal

Some companies like Herbal Life provide meal replacement shakes to people who are interested in weight loss. This generally include a minimum of 3-4months of course for the weight loss. Such shakes have all the essential nutrients which a solid normal diet would typically have.

Clients can have these shakes as a replacement of their breakfast, lunch and dinner. Of course, replacements have much less calories than usual meals.

  • Meals that are prescribed by doctors

Doctors may prescribe clear liquid or normal liquid meals depending on the patient’s condition. Clear liquid only include water, clear soups, etc. but normal liquid include juice with pulp, food that stays liquid in room temperature, etc.

Liquid diets contain much less calories as compared to solid diet plans. A survey was conducted on 24 obese people over a time period of 30 days. They were given liquid meal for 30days and they consumes around 700 calories each day.

Gradually, over the next 150 days solid diet was slowly introduced. This resulted in lowering the body fat from 33% to 26%.

Liquid diets are not a good idea for the long run

Liquid meals may seem good but are not really recommended for the long run. Such meals only allow people to have some specific juices, drinks or tea which are not at all good for health. In certain surveys where liquid meals have shown impressive results, in that case also solid diets were reintroduced weeks later.

Liquid meals may help in faster weight loss because of the low calorie intake but as one shifts to solid diet the fat stored in liver and muscles makes the person gain more weight faster which is why solid normal diet is always better for long term results.
